The first week.
Wow, what a week it’s been. Since the moment I arrived it’s been GO GO GO!
On the first day, we woke up and drove into the city centre of Sandefjord, went down and had a look at the Fjord (incase you’re not sure what a Fjord is, it’s a long, narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs that are usually on the coast). The bay is absolutely beautiful, it’s summer here so it’s quite warm, around 18 or 19degrees everyday - and the water is roughly the same
After getting the grand tour (which took a total of 20 minutes) we went and saw Petter’s house - or more like mansion - had a coffee and then drove into Folehavna
Folehavna is on the tip of Sandefjorden, where there is an old German Fort from the war. It’s basically all ruins now, but still, it’s a good hike and well worth it, as you have a beautiful view of the fords!
We were lucky enough to have a fully rigged ship go by whilst we were there - it really set the mood!
The next couple of days we spent driving around Sandefjord, going into the city for coffee (or the equivalent of coffee, somehow Norway hasn’t actually figured out how to make it - or am I just too spoilt from living in Melbourne?!
A few days past and we spent the time either drinking & smoking or exploring the town.
On the Friday, we decided to take a drive to a nearby town called Tønsberg (the oldest city in Norway). I called up Zoe and asked if her and her baby Levi wanted to join Preben, Lars and I for a drive up to check out some of the oldest ruins in Norway - especially Slottsfjellet.
Now, I know I shouldn’t say things like this,Tønsberg was nice, but nothing compared to Sandefjord.
Slottfjellet although pretty, was actually pretty boring - but at least I saw it.
The next couple of days were spent preparing for the big road trip through Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
But that my friends is a different story, and I’ll leave you to digest this whilst I eat my yogurt and read the Norwegian news.
Peace.
